My father lost his finger tips after 50 years of skillful experience working in the metal, mechanical workshop. Most of the Indonesia workshop, safety gear was minimum, also they had no sense of urgency to put back any safety devise after machine maintenance.

Here are some real life caste study which I myself had ever experience through out my working career. Not enough safety gear and protection of devise can cause :

1. Lost of fore finger tip

My father lost his finger tips after 50 years of skillful experience working in the metal, mechanical workshop. Most of the Indonesia workshop, safety gear was minimum, also they had no sense of urgency to put back any safety devise after machine maintenance. It happened that one day, he tried to drip a few drop of lubricant on the driven gear of a hack saw, instead of refilling the empty lubricant with oil, he just used his fore finger and uhsss, his fore finger  dropped to near the driven gear, that was it!

Lesson to be learnt:

Never, ever let a machine protective devise uninstalled!

2. Finger tips roll up in an laboratory equipment

It happened during my time as a production  supervisor for dyestuff production  (Ciba Geigy) luckily it was not happened during my shift, it happened at the night shift, while the QC laboratory was working only with one person, my QC colleage, as normal tried to put the cloth specimen into the pad printing lab equipment, because he need put back the safety bar after cleaning the machine, due to change of colour, it ended up his four finger went into the rubber roller, he suffered a lot, as nobody knew this happened, until my colleage passed by the laboratory and he shouted for help. It was so panic that they used a huge iron rod to level out the rubber roller.

Lesson to be learnt:

– Never, ever let a machine protective devise uninstalled.

– Do not allow to work night shift without a frequent contact with other person.

3. Red eye, swollen hand because of electrical welding

I myself had ever got a red eye and swollen hand because using the electrical welding for the whole day.

Lesson to be learnt:

Wear protective gear accordingly to protect your own health! You suffer yourselves if you do not follow the safety procedure!
