Leading with Purpose

So a Leader inspires people to understand the WHY of the company and the WHY of the goals.  This is important so that everyone in the organization knows WHY they’re doing what they’re doing.  It brings meaning to “work.”  It sustains motivation for a longer period of time.  A team of people working with purpose is clearly different from another team of people working just to get the job done.

I notice that leaders who are clear on their own purpose are just more inspiring, more impactful, and overall more successful than leaders without. And that’s why I wanted to create a blog to bring this to awareness.

Management is about the HOW to achieve goals, but Leadership is about the WHY the goals should be achieved in the first place.  Both are very important but it’s essential to understand this difference.

Interestingly, leaders who are more effective in conveying this are those who have also found their own WHY.  They are not just leaders because of their title, but they radiate with charisma because they carry around their PURPOSE in their role.

Maybe they are more effective because they are congruent with the whole concept of knowing your WHY.  I mean, if we expect our organization to work with a clear WHY, it only makes sense that we have a clear WHY ourselves to begin with, right?

And because they’ve gone through the self-introspection to figure out their WHY, it is easier for them to guide the organization and everyone in it to figure out theirs.  Perhaps that’s why they’re more effective.  Because they’ve done it themselves.

Just an interesting thought and I’ll leave you with just 2 questions:

  1. What do you want to be remembered for?
  2. Why is that important for you?

Make it a good day.
